The corporate ascendancy of Sam Foti

Posted by on November 24, 2009 in Business |

Sam Foti embarked on his career journey right after his graduation from the Wharton Business School in 1974. He initially planned for a legal career and had even started his education at the University of Oxford. This, however, did not prove fruitful for him and he left the degree after one year. He completed his Masters in Finance and Investments from the University of Pennsylvania in 1977.

Samuel J. Foti was exalted to the position of the President and Chief Operating Officer of The MONY Group Inc., in 1994. The company was going through a turbulent time and depended on him for financial and structural improvements. He quickly rose to the challenge and started implementing human resources alignment. He offered early retirement plans to the workforce and scouted for the unnecessary staff besides launching a career agency system that was ultimately followed by others in the corporate sector.

Another major achievement of  Samuel Foti  was the successful public listing of the company. He introduced modern business procedures with a special focus on Information Technology. He also helped MONY to enter into negotiations with other companies and finalizing a deal with AXA Financial. The latter acquired MONY in 2004 with a total price of $60 million along with some non-liquid assets.
